Out and About

Bybee-Howell House, part of the Portland Historic Society.
In my personal opinion, one of the best places to picnic is at
the Bybee-Howell house on Sauvie Island.
Once you cross the bridge to the island,
follow the road north and you can't miss the sign
on the right just up the road a bit.  It is right before Kruger's Farm.

Kruger's Farm has a delight assortment of u-pick flowers and fruits.
I am always out there when it comes to Gravenstein apple season
because I can depend on them to have my favorite apple.
There Farm to Table meals are definitely worth it.

Laurelhurst Park located between S.E. Stark and Oak on Cesar E. Chavez Blvd.
It was developed in the early 1900's and designed with seven distinct areas:
A concert grove, lake, children's lawn, plateau and meadows,
picnic grove, and Rhododendron Hill.
It is a delightful place to meet a friend for a stroll
or sit with a cup of tea or coffee and just take in the beauty of the surroundings.

Multnomah Falls is a must stop for anyone traveling
to or from Portland on I-84.
About 30-40 minutes east of Portland,
the surroundings along the Columbia River (The Gorge)
are spectacular.

Oswald West is definitely a special day trip to the beach.
Located 9.2 miles south of Cannon Beach along Highway 101,
pull into the parking lot and hike through old growth forest.
"Step out of your vehicle and into a place with natural beauty that truly inspires.
Just a quarter mile from any of the parking areas to the beach,
yet the rigors of everyday life are stripped away by the time your feet hit the sand."
My favorite day trip from Portland to enjoy the sound of the waves,
watch the surfers, picnic, and enjoy being surrounded by beauty.

Westmoreland Park
Located at S.E. McLoughlin and Bybee Blvd.
As stated on their website:
"Nature-based play can provide important connections for
children and adults to the natural environment."
I believe they have done a great job of incorporating nature into their play area.

Moving to Portland 40 years ago I fell in love with this city.
It is my wish to share the beauty of Portland, Oregon through my eyes
and future contributors.
Just walking along the edge of the Willamette River makes my heart sing.
Come along with me and delight in our surroundings.
There are paved paths on both sides of the river with lovely views
of downtown Portland.
Welcome to Beautiful PDX.
