Blankeye Art Gallery

Blankeye Art Gallery recently had an opening for two artists.
Since they were exhibiting sculptures and photographs,
two of my favorite art forms, I really wanted to see this show.
Javier Martinez didn't disappoint.  His sculptures were a delight of whimsy.
Andrew Binkley found many ways in his photos to display the
delights of a tube at the beach.
Threshold,  #1 was "The point at which something begins."
The show was a delightful beginning for Blankeye Art Gallery in southeast Portland.
It will be live and available for viewing for the next 3 months.

Kruger's Farm

Wow!  Kruger's Farm definitely got the Farm to Table
concept right!  Everything was delicious and just added
to a perfect summer evening on the farm under a huge oak tree.
We were greeted by Mr. Kruger himself and he was a delight.
The appetizers were amazing from ricotta stuffed squash blossoms,
lovely cheeses and fruit, plus their own pickled veggies.
Sitting here with people we would soon get to know from
all over the world was pure JOY.
 The evening breezes were amazing.
Salad, fresh green beans, corn picked that morning,
squash, and grilled salmon all delighted our palate.
There was a beautiful veggie tart for several vegetarians.

Dessert was blueberries picked nearby on the farm
served with ice cream and an almond tart.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was an
evening highlight of the summer for me.
Now if you just want to stop by the farm market for fresh produce
or to pick a beautiful bouquet of flowers that works too.
I am always out there when it comes to Gravenstein apple season
because I can depend on them to have my favorite apple.

Ohana Hawaiian Cafe

A year ago I was on the island of Kauai enjoying the delights
of shaved ice, poke, spam musubi, and huli chicken;
so when I found out there was a restaurant right here in Portland
with all these Hawaiian delights and more, I was thrilled.
Just to know I could get shaved iced anytime of the year
made me smile.
To be able to have all the food delights of Hawaii was wonderful.
If you are like me and thrilled to have Hawaiian food right here in
the city of Portland, you will soon be visiting Ohana Hawaiian Cafe.

Pearl Bakery

When I worked in the Pearl District I often found myself
heading to the Pearl Bakery for lunch.
Beside delicious pastries and bread
there are really nice sandwiches, which change seasonally.
Definitely worth the stop anytime and maybe you will
even find a French macaron too.
Yes, occasionally I now plan my trips to this part of town
just to have a sandwich and pastry.
